Overview: The Students’ Christian Organisation (SCM) Alumni Bursary Fund stands as a testament to the unwavering support and solidarity within the SCM alumni community. Established in response to a heartfelt plea by Dorah Munyai in May 2013, the Bursary Fund aims to assist deserving members of the SCM in pursuing their academic endeavors.
Foundation: The idea of the Bursary Fund was conceived during discussions at the SCM Alumni convention held in September 2013. Following constructive dialogue, a resolution was fervently adopted to establish the Bursary Fund, with the executive committee entrusted to implement this vision.
Implementation: Since its inception, the executive committee has undertaken rigorous administrative and legal steps to bring the Bursary Fund to fruition. This includes the establishment of a dedicated bank account, the launch of fundraising campaigns, drafting the Bursary Fund’s constitution, and fulfilling legal requirements for its formal recognition.
Impact: In January 2015, the Bursary Fund disbursed assistance to its inaugural beneficiaries, marking the beginning of its impactful journey. Since then, the Fund has continued to provide invaluable support to deserving SCM members, enabling them to pursue their educational aspirations and achieve their full potential.
Mission: The SCM Alumni Bursary Fund is committed to fostering a culture of philanthropy and inclusivity within the SCM family. Through our collective efforts, we aim to empower future generations of SCM members, ensuring that financial constraints never hinder their academic pursuits.
